News Item:
The Maharashtra government has said that T.C. Benjamin, principal secretary (urban development department), will probe all land deals from October 2009 to March 2010 totally worth Rs 2,500 crore initiated by the City Industrial and Development Corporation (CIDCO, the nodal agency set up for the development of Navi Mumbai or New Bombay).
So what’s wrong with that?
One big hitch: Benjamin is himself on CIDCO’s board of directors.
