Start selling nariyal pani.
Seriously.
I have got all the maths worked out, thanks to a friendly chat with my nariyalpaniwala bhaiyaji last evening.
He sells 150 coconuts every day.
He hawks each coconut for Rs. 50. His purchase price is Rs. 33.
So his profit on each coconut is Rs. 17.
So his monthly income is Rs. 17 x 150 coconuts x 30 days = Rs. 78,500.
(This, of course, is not his net profit for we are not taking into account the hafta he has to shell out to the cops, the local dada, the municipal guys, etc. But even after all these deductions, and assuming that he works every day for at least eight hours throughout the month, his take-home should still be cool).

So the wifey left my jacket for repair (fixing a new zipper) at a roadside stall.
Next day, when she went to pick it up, the stall owner could not locate it anywhere – till my better half spotted a woman wearing the same jacket and sitting on a chair nearby.
“Hey, that’s my jacket. What are you doing with it?” the wifey asked laughingly.
“Oh sorry. It is very cold today. I was wearing it for a little while,” the stall owner’s wife said sheepishly.

A matter of timing

I am one of the earliest to reach my fourth floor office every morning. As I was getting into the lift yesterday, the newspaper boy too came rushing.
“I will take our paper,” I offered and told him my office floor and number.
Surprised, he asked, “Aap le jayenge?”
When I replied in the affirmative, he broke into a warm smile and said: “Right time to be!”
